The new town badge might be inspired by a famous person from the town, a key historical event, or reflect the diverse communities which call Folkestone home.
Children research and discuss their ideas using content on the Learn with Objects website. Then sketch out their designs, before creating the final piece.
Children create the new town badge as a mixed media art activity.
It could even be made from natural, recycled materials found in Folkestone, like chalk, flint, sand or shells, or as a collage of cut-up Folkestone postcards.
Alternatively, it could be created as a digital badge. Or using a badge-making machine.
Children should include a positive and inclusive new motto, and a short descriptive label, of what the design represents, and why they chose it to represent the town.
