Rocks and Fossils activity 4: Prehistoric sharks chasing ammonites mobile

Overview
Children investigate the different kinds of ammonites that can be found as fossils in East Wear Bay. They investigate what they looked like when they were alive, how they fed, escaped from, and protected themselves from predators, including prehistoric sharks and fish.

Create a mobile for your classroom or bedroom of prehistoric sharks and ammonites. As it spins round, the sharks will appear to be chasing their prey with the ammonites ‘jetting away’ to escape their snapping jaws! You could even include an ammonite with a bite mark in it, just like the one featured in Rocks and Fossils 5: ammonites.
