The height of the stones has been exaggerated to make them look more dramatic.
Stonehenge was built between 5000 and 4000 years ago, possibly as a giant calendar linked to the study of the stars.

The larger Sarcen Stones weigh the same as four African elephants. The smaller Bluestones were brought from 225km away in Wales, dragged on sledges and floated on rafts to reach the building site.
