Children listen to Jim Craig’s incredible story in Learn with Objects WW2 7: boy on a bus.
They conduct on-line and book research to discover the answers to the following questions.
- What was the V1 (or Doodlebug)? Where were they launched from?
- How could you tell if one was coming?
- What damage did they cause?
- How did Britain counter the threat, on land and in the air?
Pupils research V1 incidents, in Folkestone and/or elsewhere. Then develop an eyewitness account, poem, letter or piece of creative writing from the point of view of one of the following:
- Jim Craig (the boy on the bus)
- One of the American anti-aircraft gun crew (who shot it down)
- A child eyewitness or victim of a V1 rocket attack
- A pilot who ‘tipped’ a V1 with the wings of their aircraft
